Mit „Mega-Drome Memories - Eine Hommage an das Mega-Drome“ veröffentlicht DJ Happy Vibes am 14. August 2026 eine moderne Dance-Hymne, die weit mehr ist als nur ein neuer Clubtrack. Der Song ist eine musikalische Rückkehr an einen Ort, der für viele Menschen in Sachsen und weit darüber hinaus bis heute mit ganz besonderen Erinnerungen verbunden ist: das legendäre Mega-Drom in Radebeul.
Seit der Eröffnung im Jahr 1994 war DJ Happy Vibes von Anfang an als Resident DJ im Mega-Drom dabei und stand dort über viele Jahre hinweg bis zu dreimal wöchentlich an den Turntables. Für ihn war dieser Club nicht einfach nur ein Arbeitsplatz, sondern ein Ort voller Energie, Begegnungen und magischer Nächte. Mit „Mega-Drome Memories“ verarbeitet er diese Zeit nun in einem Song, der Vergangenheit und Gegenwart miteinander verbindet.
Das Mega-Drom war in den 90er-Jahren eine außergewöhnliche Erlebniswelt und damals in dieser Form in Deutschland, wenn nicht sogar europaweit, einzigartig. Mit einer Kapazität von bis zu 4.000 Menschen gehörte es zu den größten und spektakulärsten Erlebnisdiskotheken seiner Zeit. Sein spektakulärstes Merkmal war das auffahrbare Dach: Innerhalb weniger Minuten konnte sich die Diskothek in eine Open-Air-Location verwandeln. Ergänzt wurde dieses besondere Konzept durch eine Poolanlage im Außenbereich, die dem Mega-Drom vor allem in den Sommermonaten ein fast mediterranes Freizeitgefühl verlieh.
Doch das Mega-Drom war weit mehr als eine Tanzfläche. Zum Konzept gehörten unter anderem ein Eiscafé, ein MC Drive, ein Fitnessstudio, ein Friseur, ein Klamottenladen und ein Kino. Sogar an ein älteres Publikum wurde gedacht: Im separaten Tanzcafé konnten Gäste in ruhigerer Atmosphäre feiern und durch eine große Glasscheibe das Geschehen in der darunterliegenden Großraumdiskothek beobachten. Das Mega-Drom war damit nicht nur Club, sondern Freizeitwelt, Treffpunkt und Erlebnisort zugleich — konzipiert für Menschen, die dort nicht nur ein paar Stunden feiern, sondern einen ganzen Teil ihrer freien Zeit verbringen konnten.
Für viele wurde das Mega-Drom dadurch zu einem sozialen Mittelpunkt. Hier wurden Freundschaften geschlossen, erste große Lieben erlebt, Nächte durchtanzt und Erinnerungen geschaffen, die bis heute weiterleben. Für eine ganze Generation war dieser Ort mehr als eine Diskothek. Er war ein Stück Jugend, ein Lebensgefühl und ein Symbol für eine Zeit, in der Musik, Licht, Freiheit und Gemeinschaft zu einem einzigen großen Erlebnis verschmolzen.
Genau dieses Gefühl trägt „Mega-Drome Memories“ in die Gegenwart. Der Titel verbindet emotionale Erinnerung mit moderner Dance-Power und schafft daraus eine hymnische Produktion für alle, die damals dabei waren — und für alle, die spüren wollen, was diese Zeit so besonders gemacht hat.
Auch das Musikvideo greift diesen Gedanken auf: Es besteht zu großen Teilen aus historischen Originalaufnahmen aus der Mega-Drom-Zeit, Aus echtem Archivmaterial entsteht so ein zeitgemäßer, bewegender Rückblick.
